What Shilajit Actually Is

Shilajit is a mineral pitch found in the Himalayan mountain ranges, formed over centuries from the slow compression of plant material between rock layers. It seeps from the rock in warmer months and is collected, purified and concentrated.

It has been used in Ayurvedic medicine for centuries, where it is regarded as a rasayana — a rejuvenating substance associated with vitality and longevity.

The two components that matter most are fulvic acid, which acts as a mineral carrier and supports cellular uptake, and dibenzo-alpha-pyrones, compounds studied for their role in mitochondrial energy production. Alongside those sit a broad spread of trace minerals.

What It Supports

• Energy and stamina. The mitochondrial angle is the most interesting part of shilajit. Mitochondria are where cells produce ATP, and research on shilajit focuses on supporting that process rather than stimulating the nervous system. It's a different mechanism to caffeine, and it doesn't produce a crash.
• Mineral and antioxidant support. Fulvic acid is a mineral transporter, and shilajit naturally contains a wide range of trace minerals.
• Cognitive support. Studied for memory and focus, likely through the same cellular energy pathway, since the brain is metabolically demanding.
• General vitality. The traditional use, and the reason it's been taken for centuries.

Gummies or Resin?

Shilajit traditionally comes as a sticky black resin, and it tastes strongly of bitter earth — which is exactly why most people don't keep taking it.

Whey Nation Shilajit Resin is the traditional form: more concentrated per serve and better value per gram, but you're scooping a tar-like substance and dissolving it in warm water.

These gummies trade concentration for the fact that you'll actually take them every day. Shilajit works through consistent use over weeks rather than acutely, so the format that gets taken is the one that works.

Why Gummies Instead of Capsules

The honest answer is adherence. Supplements only work if you take them, and the most common reason people stop is friction — capsules to swallow, powders to mix, a routine to remember.

A gummy removes all of it. No water, no shaker, no aftertaste. For anyone who has bought a bottle of capsules and found it half full months later, that difference matters more than a slightly higher dose would.

The trade-off is dose. A gummy can carry less active ingredient than a capsule or a scoop of powder, so compare the label rather than assuming equivalence.

Directions

Take as directed on the label. Consistency across weeks matters more than timing — shilajit builds its effect gradually rather than acting immediately.

Not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Consult your healthcare professional before use if you take medication or have a medical condition.

Storage

Keep the jar sealed and store somewhere cool and dry. Gummies soften and stick together in heat, so don't leave them in a hot car or a gym bag in summer.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long before I notice anything?

Give it several weeks of daily use. Shilajit supports cellular energy production over time rather than producing an acute lift.

Is 600mg a meaningful dose?

It's a reasonable daily amount for a gummy format. Resin products are typically more concentrated per serve, so compare labels if dose is your priority.

Is it sugar free?

Yes.

Can I take it with other supplements?

Yes. It's stimulant-free and stacks with protein, creatine or anything else.

How long does a jar last?

60 gummies. Check the label for the daily serve to work out your supply.
