USN Creatine HCI 100 Caps — Creatine Hydrochloride With BioPerine®

Creatine HCI is a capsule-based creatine hydrochloride formula with added BioPerine® and alpha-lipoic acid, requiring no loading phase. Highly soluble, convenient to take, and suited to anyone who hasn't got on with monohydrate powder. 100 capsules. In stock at TopDog Nutrition.

Creatine HCl vs Monohydrate — The Honest Version

Creatine hydrochloride is creatine bound to a hydrochloride group, which substantially increases its solubility in water. That part is established and uncontroversial.

The claim built on top of it is that better solubility means better absorption, so a smaller dose achieves the same result. USN cite around 60% better absorption than monohydrate.

Being straight with you: creatine monohydrate has vastly more human research behind it and costs considerably less per gram. If you want the most evidence-backed option at the lowest price, monohydrate is it, and that isn't a close call.

Where HCl genuinely earns its place is with people who don't get on with monohydrate: those who experience bloating or gastrointestinal discomfort, or who dislike the grittiness and settling of a partially soluble powder. The higher solubility addresses both. For someone who abandoned monohydrate for those reasons, a creatine they'll actually take beats a cheaper one they won't.

No Loading Required

The smaller effective dose means no loading phase. You take the daily serve from day one rather than running 20g a day for a week.

Loading is optional with monohydrate too, so this is a convenience difference rather than a fundamental one. But it does remove the phase where most people report stomach discomfort.

BioPerine® and Alpha-Lipoic Acid

BioPerine® is a patented black pepper extract standardised for piperine. It measurably improves absorption of compounds taken alongside it, which is why it appears across supplement formulations. A well-designed formula is worth nothing if the actives don't reach circulation.

Alpha-lipoic acid is an antioxidant that also has a documented effect on glucose uptake into cells. That matters here because creatine transport into muscle is insulin-sensitive, so ALA supports the same uptake pathway that carbohydrate co-ingestion targets in powder formulas.

How Creatine Works

Your muscles store creatine as creatine phosphate. During maximal effort — a heavy set, a sprint, anything explosive lasting a few seconds — you burn through ATP faster than aerobic metabolism can replace it. Creatine phosphate donates a phosphate group to ADP, regenerating ATP almost instantly and extending the window before you fail.

More stored creatine phosphate means more of those reps. Across months of training, more quality reps compounds into measurably more strength and size. It's as well established as anything in sports science.

Creatine also draws water into muscle cells, supporting cell volumisation and muscle fullness, and the research on cognitive performance continues to grow since the brain runs on ATP too.

The Capsule Advantage

Creatine works on daily consistency, and the format that gets taken is the format that works. Capsules need no shaker, no mixing and no drink. They live in a gym bag, a desk drawer or a suitcase.

If you've bought creatine powder before and found half the tub still sitting there months later, that's the problem capsules solve.

Directions

Take as directed on the label with water. Ideal pre-workout, though creatine works through saturation so daily consistency matters more than timing.

Take it every day, rest days included.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is HCl better than monohydrate?

More soluble, definitively. Better absorbed to a degree that justifies the price is the manufacturer's position rather than settled science. Monohydrate has far more research and costs less. HCl is worth it if solubility or stomach comfort is your specific problem.

Do I need to load?

No. Take the daily serve from the start.

Will it cause bloating?

Less likely than monohydrate, which is much of the point. High solubility means less undissolved powder in the gut.

Why is the dose smaller than 5g?

The concentrated HCl form is dosed on the basis that improved solubility and absorption require less material for the same muscle saturation.

How long does 100 capsules last?

Check the label for capsules per serve to work out your supply.
