Why These Three Together

This isn't a random combination. Sea moss, bladderwrack and burdock root have been used together in traditional practice for a long time, and each brings something the others don't.

Irish Sea Moss (Chondrus crispus) is a red seaweed harvested from Atlantic coastlines. Its appeal is mineral density: it naturally contains iodine, potassium, magnesium, calcium, iron and zinc, along with carrageenan, a soluble fibre. Minerals from seaweed come in a food-based form rather than as isolated salts.

Bladderwrack (Fucus vesiculosus) is a brown seaweed, and the traditional reason it appears alongside sea moss is iodine. Iodine is essential for thyroid hormone production, and your thyroid regulates metabolic rate across the whole body. Bladderwrack also supplies fucoidan, a compound studied for immune support.

Burdock Root (Arctium lappa) is the non-seaweed member and balances the other two. Used in traditional Chinese and Japanese medicine, it contains inulin, a prebiotic fibre that feeds beneficial gut bacteria, plus antioxidant compounds. It's traditionally associated with skin health and detoxification support.

A Note on Iodine

Worth flagging because it's genuinely important with seaweed products.

Both sea moss and bladderwrack are naturally high in iodine, and iodine is a case where more is not better. Too little impairs thyroid function; too much can also disrupt it. Most people in New Zealand get adequate iodine from iodised salt and dairy.

If you have a thyroid condition, take thyroid medication, or are already using another iodine-containing supplement, speak to your healthcare professional before adding this. That isn't boilerplate — it's the one genuine caution with seaweed supplementation.

What It Supports

• Mineral intake from a whole-food source rather than isolated compounds.
• Immune function, through the fucoidan and antioxidant content.
• Thyroid and metabolic support, via iodine, subject to the caution above.
• Gut health, through the carrageenan and inulin fibre content.
• Skin health, the traditional association for burdock root.

100% Vegan

All three ingredients are plant and algae derived, and the gummy base is vegan. Worth noting since most gummies use gelatin, which rules them out for vegans and vegetarians.

Directions

Take as directed on the label. Daily consistency matters more than timing.

Not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding without professional advice. Consult your healthcare professional before use if you have a thyroid condition, take thyroid medication, or take any other iodine-containing supplement.

Storage

Keep the jar sealed and store somewhere cool and dry. Gummies soften and stick together in heat.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it safe if I have a thyroid condition?

Speak to your healthcare professional first. Both sea moss and bladderwrack are high in iodine, which directly affects thyroid function, and that needs managing alongside any existing treatment.

Is it vegan?

Yes, 100% vegan.

Does it taste of seaweed?

No. The gummy format is largely there to mask it, since raw sea moss gel has a strong oceanic taste that puts most people off.

Are they sugar free?

Yes.

Gummies or sea moss gel?

Gel carries a larger dose per serve and costs less per gram, but needs refrigeration, has a short shelf life and tastes strongly of the sea. Gummies are shelf-stable and get taken consistently.
