What Cross-Flow Ultra-Filtration Actually Does

Whey starts as a by-product of cheesemaking, containing protein alongside fat, lactose and minerals. How you separate them determines what you end up with.

Cross-flow ultra-filtration is a low-temperature, physical filtration process — liquid whey is passed across a membrane that lets small molecules through while retaining the larger protein fractions. Because it uses no acid, no high heat and no chemical solvents, the protein comes through with its structure intact and its bioactive fractions preserved. Ion-exchange processing produces a high protein number too, but the harsher chemistry denatures some of the more fragile immune-supporting fractions in the process.

The practical outcome: a protein that's 90% pure by weight, mixes smooth rather than gritty, and keeps the immunoglobulins and lactoferrin that make whey more than just an amino acid delivery system.

Who ISO90+ Is Actually For

• Anyone tracking macros closely. At 27g protein in a 30g serve, almost nothing else is coming along for the ride. When your daily carb and fat budget is tight, that difference compounds across two or three shakes a day.
• Cutting phases and contest prep. Maximum protein, minimum everything else, so the calories go where you want them.
• People who don't tolerate whey concentrate. Isolate is significantly lower in lactose than concentrate. If standard whey leaves you bloated or uncomfortable, that's usually the lactose — and ISO90+ removes most of it.
• Anyone wanting a lighter shake. Isolate drinks thinner and cleaner than a concentrate blend, which suits people who find creamy proteins heavy.

ISO90+ or PRO75?

Both are quality NZ proteins — they solve different problems.

PRO75 gives you 24g protein per 32g serve from a WPC and MPI blend, with L-Glutamine and Glucosamine added. The MPI fraction means slower digestion and better satiety, and the added glucosamine covers joints. It's the all-rounder and the better value per gram of protein.

ISO90+ gives you 27g protein per 30g serve with the fat, carbs and lactose filtered out. It's faster-digesting, leaner and easier on sensitive stomachs, at a higher price per serve.

Directions

Shake or blend one 30g scoop with 200–250ml of cold water or milk. Water keeps it leanest and lets the isolate drink light; milk adds body and calories if you're not restricting.

Best taken 30–60 minutes before training or immediately after. Also works as a between-meals protein hit, or stirred through breakfast cereal or oats.

Is isolate better than regular whey?

Purer, not better. For building muscle the difference between 24g and 27g of protein is small. What isolate buys you is fewer carbs, less fat and less lactose — which matters if you're cutting or sensitive, and matters little otherwise.

Is it lactose free?

Not entirely, but close. Cross-flow ultra-filtration removes most of it. Mild intolerance is usually fine; a diagnosed dairy allergy is not.

Does it taste worse than PRO75?

It drinks lighter and less creamy, because fat and lactose carry flavour and both have been filtered out. Whether that's worse depends on what you want — plenty of people prefer it.
