Why Blend Whey and Casein

Most proteins pick one source. Select Protein uses two because they behave completely differently in the body, and the combination covers more ground than either alone.

Whey digests quickly. Amino acids hit the bloodstream within an hour, producing a sharp spike in plasma leucine — the amino acid that triggers muscle protein synthesis. Ideal immediately post-training.

Casein behaves the opposite way. It forms a gel in the acidic environment of the stomach and releases amino acids slowly over several hours. Lower peak, far longer duration.

Together you get the immediate spike that switches muscle protein synthesis on, followed by sustained amino acid availability that keeps the supply going. For a protein you might drink post-workout, between meals or before bed, that dual profile is more useful than a fast protein alone.

Milk Protein Isolate at the Centre

Milk protein isolate is naturally around 80% casein and 20% whey — the ratio found in milk itself. It's ultra-filtered, which means highly digestible and notably low in lactose.

That last point matters more than it sounds. A large share of people who say whey upsets their stomach are reacting to lactose, not to whey protein. The low-lactose profile of milk protein isolate makes Select Protein a genuinely easier option for sensitive digestion than a standard concentrate-heavy blend.

24g Protein, 5g BCAAs

24g per serve puts Select Protein level with the premium whey products, and 5g of naturally occurring BCAAs comes with it — intrinsic to the dairy protein rather than added as separate free-form aminos to inflate the panel.

Is a blend better than pure whey?

Different, not better. Pure whey is the faster option and the standard post-workout choice. A whey-casein blend gives you a longer amino acid release and more satiety, which makes it more versatile across the day and clearly better before bed.

Is it good for sensitive stomachs?

Better than most. Milk protein isolate is low in lactose, which is the usual culprit behind protein-related bloating. Not suitable for a diagnosed dairy allergy.
